research into British Social Realism

  • After doing research into to british social realism as a genre have identified some conventions of the genre
  1.  Location shooting, this is when a scene doesn't take place in a studio. By doing this it allows the film to seem more real life and helps them to interact with the film.
  2. Wide shots, this allows the audience to have greater understanding of where the scene is set.
  3. Non professional actors / not very established actors, this is due to the small budget of British social realism films.
  4. social issues are identified through individual stories
  5. Not fully scripted (semi scripted), this allows realistic dialogue to be achieved and therefore reaching out to the audience again.
