Ill Manors Poster Research

The background of the first image are flats the connotations of this are that it is a street film. who live in council area’s in bad and lower class areas. These are the stereotypes which are associated with living in a flat, including that the people are involved in gun and other related crimes, being uneducated and unemployed usually living off benefits. The image is very dark and grey which connoted the area as being a bad place, where they undergo everyday struggle’s within their life. The picture shows a man wearing a white cap, a black hoodie and dark trousers holding a gun. The focus is the man who has dark hair and dark haired stubble upon his face, which makes he look dirty, and unclean. He is holding a gun which shows that the film is about violence and gun related crimes, and that the character is involved in crime or killing/injuring others but it could also symbol that the area they live in being unsafe and dangerous therefore this is why he has to carry weapons around with him. The colours of the image being very dark and black suggest that the film is a dark and deep film which deals with everyday issues for example crime, this is why the film is a social realism film due to dealing with everyday struggles. Also the image has a sketchy effect, where dark shading is used making it look like a rough image, which connoted the character to having a rough life. Also Plan B is starring within the film and Plan B is a rapper, and rapping is generally seen as a chavy.  Social realism films are usually about and rapping is usually about bad things or problems of the artist, therefore this relates to a social realism film.

The shots are usually taken at set locations in social realism films this means they don't use a studio for studio shots, they take their shots in real life parks, shopping centres and clubs to give the audience a true real life of the film. This gives the film a real Urban feel. The main shot used within social realism films are wide shots, these are used to show the background/area of the film as this usually plays an important role in the story line. Non-professional actors/ unknown actors are used to add a realistic effect to the film who would undergo the problems within a social realism film. A semi-improvised script to allow a true flow and realism to the speech which everyday people use, so it feels like life-like conversations. The films usually have a sense of humour along with seriousness, the film deals with everyday problems, crimes but allow light hearted humour when dealing with these issues to entertain the audience. The films always use regional identities where the film is set they use the local accent and dialect (slang), correct settings of that location and the stereotypes/issues of that region. Also these problems which they face during the film are used via emotional and dramatic individual stories which allows the audience to connect with the characters and their stories
